CHAPTER 01

Watch time is the whole game

If a viewer finishes your clip, the platform reads it as quality and shows it to more people. If they scroll at second two, it dies. Everything below exists to get a stranger to the last frame.

CHAPTER 02

A caption does four jobs

It hooks in the first second. It makes the viewer stay to see what happened. It pulls them into the comments to get the full story. And it makes them want to share or argue. Leave out just enough — the name of the celebrity, the number, the outcome — that finishing the clip or opening the comments is the only way to know.

CHAPTER 03

Templates for the moments that repeat

Meeting someone famous: "the moment [streamer] had no idea who he just met" — never name the celebrity, let the comments do it. Reacting to a song: "[streamer] was shocked when this artist played an award-winning track" — same rule. Emotional: "the moment [streamer] realized what happened". An apology: "the rare moment [streamer] showed maturity and apologized after what happened". A career milestone: "[streamer] had his I-made-it moment". Talking about something that blew up: put the full context in — the dollar amount, the item, the consequence.

CHAPTER 04

Trigger words and capitals

PROVED, SPEECHLESS, REGRETTED, REVEALED, SHOCKED, BROKE DOWN. Capitalize the two or three words that carry the emotion and nothing else — it is what the eye lands on in a feed. Keep the tone matched to the clip: sad clips read sad, funny clips read funny. A dramatic caption on a flat moment gets the scroll anyway.

CHAPTER 05

Line the caption up with search

The blue phrases under popular clips are what people are typing into the search bar. A caption that contains the streamer's name, the keyword people are searching, and an emotion gets pulled into those searches — where viewers are looking for that exact moment, not scrolling past it. "[streamer] reacts to his new car" is invisible; "[STREAMER] was SPEECHLESS after seeing his $500K car" is the same moment with a search handle on it.

CHAPTER 06

Keep it clean

Words around fighting, weapons, death, hate, bullying and swearing in the caption or the first three seconds of audio get a clip quietly filtered even when it breaks no rule. Same for rude gestures on screen. The platform does not know it is satire. Keep captions PG and the edit clean and the reach stays open.

The formula

Name + keyword + emotion

Name the streamer, never the mystery.

The person they met, the song, the number — that is what the comments are for.

Capitalize the emotion.

Two or three words, not the whole line.

Match what people search.

Use the phrase people are already typing, then deliver the moment.

Should the on-screen text and the caption be the same?

The on-screen line is the hook — short, inside the first second. The caption can carry the context and the search phrase. Parasocials adds the on-screen text and word-by-word captions in the editor.
