CHAPTER 01

Hidden filters on words and gestures

Moderation runs on captions, audio and visuals before distribution. Words around fighting, weapons, death, hate and bullying — even censored — in the caption or the first three seconds, and gestures like a middle finger or pointing-and-laughing, get a clip suppressed without a notice. The clip stays up; it just never reaches anyone. Keep captions PG, cut the risky second, post the clean version.

CHAPTER 02

A shadowban is a pattern, not a post

Signs: videos frozen at 0-10 views, stuck under 300 after hours, only followers engaging, no discovery traffic in analytics. It follows a run of low-trust posts — a few borderline clips in a row, reposted or watermarked content, or a flood of low-effort uploads. The platform stops testing the account with new viewers.

Recovering from one

There is no appeal; there is only the next ten posts. Set anything weak to private, then post only fully original, tightly edited, clean clips with captions built to get comments — and keep posting on schedule so the account gets re-tested. One careless upload mid-recovery resets it. TikTok's own account check in settings grades recent posts; run it before posting again.

The duplicate flag

If your clip looks like a video already posted — same moment, same crop, same layout — it gets capped, often right as it starts moving. Detection is visual, so a different sound or a logo does not help. The fix is to not be a copy: a moment nobody else has, your own crop and zoom, your own caption placement. Being first with the moment is the cleanest way to never look like a duplicate.

Dead space

Any second where nothing happens — a pause, a repeated line, a flat reaction, a still frame — is a second someone scrolls. Turn a 60-second capture into 10-20 seconds where every line earns its place: start two seconds before the moment, end on the reaction, cut everything between.

Clips that run for two hours, then stop

When a huge moment drops, the push for that topic is shared across everyone who posts it. Early posts get a burst, then a thousand identical uploads split the pool and everything stalls. Clipping the moment itself is the trap. Clip around it — the lead-up, the aftermath, the streamer talking about it later — with the same searchable caption. You fill the gap the platform is looking to fill, and the clip lives longer.
